APRIL FOOL'S ... baby brother or sister?

We're not pregnant but thank all of you who wished us well! Until next year. Keep April Foolin'.

new teeth

Corban is working on getting his top teeth! Or, maybe it's just his top tooth. He's been a bit cranky, but according to my family, we have the best baby ever and his bad days are good days to them. I had a dream the other day that only one top tooth broke through and he had a snaggle tooth. Maybe my dream is coming true.

birthday

Does anyone get this photo? I didn't in real life. It is apparently off of an "Office" episode. Anyhoo. Yesterday was a great day after I got over a migraine. We went to Sizzler and then had people over for ice cream (I hate cake). I ended up getting some money, "Twilight", some new rocketdogs, and some candy.

Thanks everyone for a great day!

belly laughs

I was opening the mail the other day and accidently ripped an envelope and Corban started laughing. Joe and I have been trying to get Corban to belly laugh for a while. Who knew we only needed to rip a piece of paper to get him to do it!

pRANT

This is a rant about my printer. (I was trying to be clever with my title, get it?)

We bought our HP printer/scanner/copier cheap! (What was it Amber, like $25?) At the time we didn't know we'd have to invest in $15-$20 ink cartridges every month. Those tiny cartridges don't last that long and it doesn't seem like we print all that much.

Take the HP 21 black ink. It is (3/18/09) $18.92 on walmart.com for a 5 ml cartridge. That makes it (check my math) $3.784 per milliliter. There are 3785.4 ml in 1 gallon. That makes black ink $14323.95 per gallon!!!

(Is gold that expensive???)

baby purees

We started feeding Corban rice cereal two weeks ago so he could get used to opening his mouth and eating from a spoon. We barely started feeding him carrots and he loves them! Honestly, I'm a little disappointed that he didn't give me some grand shudder and gag from the new taste and texture, but he's a good sport and eats really good. In two more weeks we're gonna try squash. Hmmm ... that sounds a little more disgusting. Maybe I'll get the shudder and gag from that. I'll keep you posted.

On a similar note, when we feed Corban from his high chair, we say a little blessing on the food. He normally just looks at either one of us with a weird look on his face, but when we say amen, he gets a big smile on his face and squeals with delight.

Crawling. What are the precursors to that? Do they scoot backward and eventually get on their hands and knees? Corban is doing all of that. It's always an adventure when we get him from his naps; we never know where he's gonna be in his crib! I love being a mom.

shots and bandaids

Isn't it great how much bandaids help owies? Corban doesn't even remember that he got shots today, but those cute little bandaids on his chunky thighs help me more than him! He let out a little cry and was great. He still loves the doctor, but those nurses are starting to look a little questionable. He's still the same weight and height that he was two days ago. I told how much milk I'm feeding Corban and the doctor looked shocked. "Where is it all going?" he asked. Personally, I think it goes straight to the thighs.

blogger

What's up with blogger? Some of my private contacts' status does not update. How do I fix this?

corban update

Corban is going to get his 6 month-old check-up tomorrow. We went in to our WIC appointment and he weighs 18 pounds and is 27 inches. That means he has 4 pounds and 2 inches until he has to move out of his infant seat and graduates into his big-boy chair!

Corban saw light coming from our window and was instantly intrigued.

I think there is a correlation in being close to an object and how well Corban sleeps. He always starts out in the middle of the crib but inevitably moves to the top or bottom of his crib. I used to do this same thing when I was little.

Corban missed one of his naps. When this happens, I put him in his swing and let him stay there until he's supposed to wake up. Anyway, he fell asleep.

We've started feeding Corban rice cereal for breakfast, lunch and dinner. He doesn't love it, but he's getting used to a spoon and the concept of swallowing. Joe was in charge of feeding Corban in this photo. Corban quickly took things over.

let it snow

A couple of days ago there was very little snow on the ground. In fact, there was so little snow that one could see the dirt and grass coming out of the snow! Well, mother nature had a little surprise in store of the residents of Cache Valley. We got about 16" of snow in North Logan and Hyrum got over 2 feet of snow.

It's all starting to melt, thank goodness, but I cannot help but be grateful for all the snow that we do in fact have. How awful would it be if in conjuncture with the economic problems we're having, we had a drought on top of it?

sleep over

Joe and I inflated our double-decker air mattress and had a sleep over in our front room! We watched "Beverly Hills Chihuahua" and ate popcorn. The movie was actually so corny that it was cute. I don't think I'll watch it again, but once was good. Joe kept making fun of me because I kept wrapping myself in a blanket. About half way through the movie, when our heater kicked off, he started shivering a bit and I graciously lent part of my blanket to him. We have a cold-mist humidifier that runs during the night because it's too cold in the day time. Joe and I both had our own blankets because we both thought the other would steal ALL of the blanket if we shared. I was freezing the whole night. I shut the humidifier off, I got another blanket and I ended up lifting Joe's blanket up so I could steal some of his body heat. Joe even made me breakfast in bed (I had to get back into bed so he could serve it to me there)!

We don't get to see too much of each other during the week, but this sleep over was fantabulous!
