Let's say that a person who did not support proposition 8 asked you why you did, what would you say? And keep in mind that they probably don't share the same belief system as you, so the religion card probably wouldn't satisfy them (if anything really did).
Are they gay?
ReplyDeleteNot sure, mine would just go to religious beliefs.
ReplyDeletei hope this isn't too graphic... but i'd tell them boy parts and girl parts fit together for a reason. that's the way it's supposed to be. :)
ReplyDeleteThey will probably never see things the way you do on this issue, for religious reasons or not. I'd tell them that your against it and end it there. You'll probably never convince them that you have a perfect right to oppose it. Even if you don't back it up with anything. This debate will probably never be settled anyways. But sides hold pretty strong beliefs and are unlikely to back down on their stances. Marriage is not a right covered by the constitution that's the main point that gay rights activist fail to understand.
ReplyDeleteI think the issue is culture, not civil rights. Gay couples can and do have the civil rights that all couples have. The issue is the word marriage. We as a society together create a culture we want our children to grow up in. If we give a thumbs up to gay marriage, we are teaching our children that this is an acceptable lifestyle - and one they can and should explore as they're forming their identity. That's not OK. There is right and wrong behavior and we need to teach our children that.
