I was in a minor accident yesterday morning. I was driving to work when a high school student made an illegal left-hand turn in front of me. I slammed on my brakes, but gracefully skidded right into his rear-passenger door. My car got a few scrapes on the bumper and headlight, but his door was smashed in! Yikes.
I've never been in an accident before so I didn't really know what to do. The high schooler got out of his car, apologized and ma'amed me! We exchanged information and went on our way. A few hours later I get a phone call from the police telling me that the other driver reported it and that he needed more information from me. My car is still technically in my dad's name, so I went to my parent's house to tell them the news. My dad was leaving in his car. I told him I needed to talk to him and proceeded to cry -- this was the third time that I cried since the accident. We got in the house and he frantically waved for my mom to join us. I guess he didn't know how to handle a crying woman! I told them the story, he looked at me with disbelief in his eyes, and he said, "So, why are you crying?" He then told me that the only reason for someone to cry is if they killed someone in an accident. =) Gotta love dads.
So, in short. I'm fine. The baby is fine. And my car is fine.
Eeek! Glad you are okay, but how scary! I've never been in an accident either and hope I never do.
