just the two of us

Joe has been working hard this past semester. He has classes every day except Tuesday and works 12 hour shifts every Tuesday and Thursday. Today we all woke up a little later than usual (thank heaven). Joe hopped in the shower while I fed Corban. I then got back into bed and waited for Joe to finish getting ready so I could drive him to work. He got after me about getting out of bed, getting the boy's coat on, and warming up the car. Well, he was so concerned about me that he accidently put on two different shoes! I'm still giggling about it. Corban and I had lunch with Joe today and was able to switch the shoes. Nobody at work noticed, but I'm sure they'll check his shoes from now on.

snow removal

Our driveway has been one sheet of ice for the past two months. It's been warming up here lately (just above freezing), so we took out the hammer and shovel and went to work de-icing the driveway.

We had been working for about 15 minutes when our neighbor, Mr. Newbold, came over and spread rock salt over the entire sheet. Why didn't we think of that? Needless to say, the work went by a lot faster after the ice melted even more.

Corban was in heaven watching us and playing in the ice. I think he tasted every chunk of ice we broke off. I'm pretty sure he got his share of sodium that day. His hands turned a bright pink before his genius mother got him some gloves. There was water beneath the ice, so his pants were soaked up to his shins.

Thanks Mr. Newbold, for saving the day and our backs!

sickies

Corban has been sick the past couple of days with an ear infection and upper respiratory infection. He's actually happy today, which is a good sign, but I've gotten sick in his place.

Who takes care of the mom when she's sick?

long time coming

I've had to re-baby proof my house. Corban can now reach the cupboard handles and loves to move my beans around. These are in the bottom cupboards of the china hutch. He also likes to put them in the sliding doors.

broken dreams

For the past couple of weeks we have been without a computer, and boy has it been hard. We had to look at things online through the Wii. Have you ever tried to write an email with a Wii remote? Joe tried to uninstall and reinstall everything on our PC. It doesn't work at all now. Our mac (which isn't supposed to break down I thought) decided it had had enough and wouldn't even turn on. Yikes. But we now have the mac back and I am happy to be reconnected again.

Christmas

My parent's came up for Christmas morning. Christmas morning just isn't the same without kids. We were trying to be sneaky and not let Corban see this bike/pusher thing until the last, but that was the first thing he noticed and that was the first thing he played with!
Corban loves trucks! We used my parent's Christmas money they gave us and got him this rug with two tonka trucks. I think he makes a pretty cute present too.
We also got him a HUGE bag of blocks. He usually plays with them for maybe a half hour all by himself! I love that. I couldn't tell if my dad liked the blocks more than Corban.
After all the presents were opened, I made everyone cake waffles with whipped cream and fruit. Because I used a cake mix, the waffeles weren't as crispy as I like them, but they sure were good!

Christmas Eve

We held our traditional Christmas Eve, this year with the Jenson's and my parents. We had a nice dinner and the acted our the Christmas story. We sand Christmas carols and opened our PJs (I got slippers instead). The singing is so awful, but I love doing it!

The movie is Corban playing his instrument as we're singing. Enjoy!
